Internship | Account Management Intern at Energy BBDO
Duties
My daily duties included managing conference calls, handling call reports, and replying to emails. My weekly duties included updating and sending out traffic reports to our traffic manager and the client as well as setting up weekly status meetings. On top of that work, I had a personal presentation for my internal team and an intern project pitch to the company.
What did you most enjoy about your internship?
The most enjoyable part about my internship was the people I worked with. The internal team was fun to work with and they were really helpful in terms of guiding me and teaching me things about the industry. My fellow interns were a lot of fun to hang out with and work with on our final in house pitch.
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
The most difficult aspect of the internship was the beginning when everything just seemed to all come at once, but after the first couple of days, you just get into the swing of things. It’s finding your own groove that’s the most difficult part.
How did your experience at ILLINOIS and in the College of Media prepare you for your internship?
I found that during my internship, I was actually applying what I learned in the classroom to my work. The classes I took definitely helped me in the workforce, and I was glad that I had some background of the industry with me.
How has your internship prepared you for a career?
My internship has given me a glimpse into the advertising life, specifically a career in account management. I’m very glad I had the opportunity to do so because this experience has shown me so much more than anything I’ve learned in the classroom.
What recommendations do you have for other students about doing an internship?
I recommend that other students who are doing an internship give it 100% and milk it for all its worth. It’s hard work, and it’s draining, but take the initiative and jump on any projects or opportunities given.
