What were your duties?
- Recorded and edited Chicago Cubs game highlights and actualities for updates and shows weekly
- Prepared a "mock show" with topic ideas and guests and presented it to the Sports Director
- Pulled airchecks for the sales and promotions staff weekly
- Screened callers for shows ensuring a diverse sample of opinions for on-air discussion
- Managed website, keeping podcast shows and interviews current
What did you most enjoy about your internship?
Being surrounded in a professional and positive environment.
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
Waking up early and taking the train downtown to work, but that's the grind of a journalist.
How did your experience at Illinois and in the College of Media prepare you for your internship?
Networking is essential in this field, build those bonds with your professors outside of class because you never know where that might lead you.
Has your internship prepared you for a career?
Yes, as far as the market I want to work in and overall enhancing more of my producing skills.
What recommendations do you have for other students about doing an internship?
Looks amazing on a resume, I can't stress enough how big that is in impressing employers.
