What were your duties?
Some of my daily duties included: writing blogs, creating Instagram posts, researching current trends, conducting consumer interviews, creating presentations, analyzing sales, working with customer service, and working with the design team.
What did you most enjoy about your internship?
I enjoyed working during photo shoots the most. I got a chance to style models and then see all of the dress designs come to life. I also enjoyed working the Spring Fashion Show because after doing behind the scenes work for it, it was a great experience seeing the final product.
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
When it came to learning new skills and techniques, it was difficult at first but after practice I got the hang of it.
How did your experience at ILLINOIS and in the College of Media prepare you for your internship?
My Illinois College of Media experience helped prepare me for this internship because they offered me so many opportunities to get real life experience on campus and the classes offered all gave me skills and knowledge that I used daily while interning.
How has your internship prepared you for a career?
My internships helped prepare me for my future career because it taught me how important every little aspect of a business is in order for it to function. This internship gave me insights into what it is really like to work with different departments and how they all come together as one.
What recommendations do you have for other students about doing an internship?
My recommendation is to find a company or a field that interests you and is something you would enjoy doing each day. Don't be afraid to reach out to companies that may not have any internship information online. Most importantly, an internships is what you make out of it, so take advantage of being surrounded by industry professionals and make sure to stay in touch with them after the internship.
