What were your duties?
•Reinvented Eli’s process of social media through studying trends and creating an environment to experience
•Analyzed 12 years of data for fresh and frozen manufactured cheesecake in the United States and evaluated popular rebates
•Assisted on the retail/B2C side of clients, while upholding strong connections in the mail order/B2B market
What did you most enjoy about your internship?
I got to eat cheesecake and other desserts whenever I wanted!
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
I am learning Advertising in the millennial age of creativity, but this company is very traditional. I had to change my mindset to stay on brand.
How did your experience at ILLINOIS and in the College of Media prepare you for your internship?
All of the core Advertising classes and my Informatics classes have helped to pave my way to a successful career. Also, my boss enjoyed the fact that I was a fellow Illini. Connecting with alumni seems to be a great network!
How has your internship prepared you for a career?
I learned a lot in my internship, but I felt comfortable to always ask questions. I think this is a big part of preparing me for my career.
What recommendations do you have for other students about doing an internship?
Talk to everyone and tell them what you want to do! Most people in the world love to connect with people.
