What did you most enjoy about your internship?
Connecting with co-interns and professionals. Going out in the field with special project producers, anchors, and camera crews every day.
What was the most difficult aspect of the internship?
Working early morning hours with news anchors during their morning shift. It paid off in the long run, and I understand that this is how life is going to be in the workplace, especially when it comes to a 24/7 news operation.
How did your experience at ILLINOIS and in the College of Media prepare you for your internship?
Media Career Services prepared me tremendously for my internship. When it came to completing my internship application and typing up my resume and cover letter, I knew the do's and don'ts. It only took one media career workshop, taught by Jessica Hogue, to prepare me for my internship.
How has your internship prepared you for a career?
My internship prepared me for my future career because it helped me to learn the news operations of one of the top market news stations in Chicago.
What recommendations do you have for other students about doing an internship?
Never feel afraid to ask questions and remember to network with professionals during your internship.
