Assist with wheat and oat breeding at the University of Illinois. Students will learn how to recognize different agronomic and disease resistance traits in wheat and oat. The purpose of and technical details involved in different stages of crop breeding programs. How to work with other staff and interns as part of a team.
Duties include
a. helping to maintain and harvest research plots
b. data collection in research plots and on grain samplesand
c. preparation of seed for fall planting. Approximately two-thirds of thiswork takes placeoutdoors.
This position is full-time (40 hrs/wk) for the entire summer (mid-May to mid-August) with potential for overtime during harvest (approximately June 15th‒ July).
