    The Wisconsin Student Diversity Internship Program (SWSDIP) offers opportunities for students across the state in various agencies and career areas. This internship program specifically targets students across culturally diverse groups with various lived experiences, representing the global spectrum of ethnicity, gender and ability. The goal of the program is to provide those students with an opportunity to experience the professional work environment of Wisconsin State Government. The program provides students with a paid internship and valuable work experience and training in various branches of state government. Students who are veterans are also strongly encouraged to apply.

    Salary Information

    All positions in this program are paid internships. Refer to the position catalog for the specific hourly rate for each position.

    Job Details

    All positions in this program are Limited-Term Employment during the Summer of 2022. In general, the positions will start May 22, 2022, and end mid-August 2022.

    Due to the nature of each position, agencies may conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection.

    All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. At this time, those who are unvaccinated are subject to weekly COVID-19 testing protocols.

    Qualifications

    To be eligible for this program, you must be:

    • Legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without agency sponsorship)
    • At least 18 years of age at the time the internship program begins (May 22, 2022)
    • Currently enrolled in, recently graduated from (2021/2022), or planning to attend (2022/2023) a 2-year, 4-year, or graduate school
    • Either a Wisconsin state resident, or living in Wisconsin temporarily while attending school, or living outside of Wisconsin and able to travel to Wisconsin at your own expense as needed for the position
      • Students who are residents or currently live in Wisconsin will receive priority in appointment for positions

    • Professional experience is not required for this program. This program is an opportunity for students to gain professional experience and explore opportunities within Wisconsin state government.
