Title: Sustainability Initiative Coordinator
Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; with occasional nights and weekend work

The Sustainable Futures Initiative (SFI) is a new effort being launched by the University, bringing together students, staff, scholars, and practitioners to imagine and implement sustainable solutions for society.
Essential Job Duties: The Sustainability Initiative Coordinator will play a crucial role in the University’s new Sustainable Future’s Initiative (SFI), a cross-unit interdisciplinary initiative being funded by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. This position will work under the supervision of the Initiative’s Director to both develop and facilitate programs to help the wider campus community imagine and implement sustainable solutions for society.
Through strategic partnerships, communication, and individual project and reporting efforts, the Coordinator will help to strengthen the bridge between the research, education, and extension missions of the university with campus itself, leveraging the potential of the campus as a living lab to further sustainability scholarship and practice.
Other Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and implement programs/projects in support of campus-wide sustainability goals and commitments, particularly those that engage students. Lead and facilitate teams to develop and implement programs, including creating goals, adhering to budgets, setting timelines and deadlines, securing partners, conducting reporting, and evaluating programs.
- Cultivate professional relationships within the University and beyond through collaboration, communication and coordination. Develop collaborative partnerships and program strategies to find creative resources and solutions for program implementation.
- Support sustainability outreach efforts including presentations, events, tours and events. Synthesize a broad range of sustainability topics and present them as a cogent whole.
- Stay abreast of emerging best practices regarding area of work and implement as relevant to ensure continuous improvement of programs and activities.
- Model exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to give and receive information across diverse communities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience/Education: Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Ability to understand and synthesize a broad range of sustainability topics and present them as a cogent whole.
- Ability to build partnerships across multiple academic units to meet strategic sustainability goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication including public speaking, writing press releases, reports, use of social media, and development of web site content.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven self-starter who can work both in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and to work with shifting priorities and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work in a university or similar setting.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating, organizing and implementing events.
- Demonstrated creativity toward creating new initiatives and programs.
