The Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office (FWCO) has a diverse team prepared to assist with sportfish, native fish, imperiled species and invasive species assessment and management throughout the greater Mississippi River Basin. As an intern, this individual will serve as a crew technician primarily supporting projects focused on invasive carp in three sub-basins of the Mississippi River Basin but with opportunities to participate in other projects as funds and need dictates. Due to this large geographical area, these positions require overnight travel. Selectee will learn specialized skill to ensure safe and effective deployments of sampling gear in large rivers. When not working in the field, the incumbent will assist with gear maintenance and repair and assist with lab and office duties including assigning ages to fish collected through hard part analysis.
