Major Duties:
The Stream Ecosystem Ecology Laboratory at Drake University seeks a research technician to assist with two research projects focused on water quality and manage a vibrant team of 3 – 5 undergraduate students. In collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, we are investigating water quality by the meter and minute using an aquatic drone equipped with water quality sensors in agro-urban streams of Central Iowa. A second project examines changes in water quality and stream ecosystem health across human dominated landscapes around the Des Moines metropolitan area. The position will involve frequent fieldwork in all seasons, including the collection of water quality samples, measurement of stream characteristics (e.g., flow), use of environmental sensors, and coordination of undergraduate students in the field and laboratory. In addition, the research technician will have the opportunity to analyze and present data at regional or national scientific meetings and co-author publications.
