Volunteer Coordinator
Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator will administer all aspects of The Conservation Foundation's volunteer program including recruiting, training, and overseeing volunteers. The primary goal of the Volunteer Coordinator is to maintain a right-sized volunteer program and provide meaningful and impactful experiences to our dedicated and passionate group of volunteers.
Reports to: Gindi Orloff, Vice President of Finance & Administration
Schedule & Job Location: Part-time, year round position based at the McDonald Farm in Naperville; flexible hours and hybrid schedule available, annually averaging 20 hours/week with seasonal variation. Some evenings and weekends required.
Position Details:
- Rate of pay is budgeted at $25/hour
- Paid time off and retirement plan match
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to sites required; mileage reimbursed and IRS rate
- Ability to lift, carry, and move light to medium weight objects (up to 25 pounds)
Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating and managing volunteers or similar program management
- Organized and able to juggle multiple programs and events simultaneously
- Desire to work with individuals with diverse skills, lived experiences, and interests
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams. Database experience preferred
- Ability to independently set daily priorities, schedule, and activities to fulfill job responsibilities
- Genuine passion for the mission of the Conservation Foundation
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of TCF's volunteer program including volunteer policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
- Collaborate with staff in developing volunteer position descriptions, training, scheduling, and other volunteer support
- Manage volunteer recruitment and retention and work with staff to implement practices to maintain volunteer engagement
- Process volunteer applications in a timely manner and update database to accurately capture all relevant information
- Screen and interview volunteer candidates and work with staff to provide orientation and training
- Maintain and update the Volunteer Handbook and all other volunteer documents
- Work with the Advancement Tea, to engage corporate partners though volunteer opportunities
- Create content for social media posts; sharing volunteer photos, experiences, and stories
Timeline:
