Startup Analyst Support for Impossible Foods Project
Context: Impossible Foods was founded to transform the global food system and
reduce the impact of climate change by making the world’s most delicious, nutritious,
and sustainable meat, fish, and dairy — from plants. We have experienced spectacular
growth over the last few years, and we continue to lead all aspects of the plant-based
revolution – from discovery and innovation to commercial production and consumer
education. We’re building an amazing team of brilliant, collaborative, mission-driven
individuals who take pride in using their diverse skills to contribute to a better world.
Goal of this project: Impossible Foods is launching a brand-new project aimed at
building a just transition path for ranchers looking to shift away from animal-based beef
production. We are looking to launch a pilot project in 2022 and need extra support on
site diligencing over the next 1-2 months.
Activities: The scope of additional support will include:
● Updating our shortlist with new leads and open market listings
● Gathering and compiling data including satellite imagery of biomass, soil
maps, and climate analysis from open data sources and paid subscriptions
(LandGate, USGS, NOAA, etc)
● Interviewing brokers to gather information about the site, tenant history, local
community, and environmental risks and set up site viewings
● Interviewing county extension agents to validate site information, identify key
community stakeholders, and understand history of local land management
Timeline: ~10-15 hours of support per week for 6-10 weeks (March-May 2022) at a
rate of ~$30-50 per hour
