The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center is seeking individuals to work on research projects related to wastewater treatment and algal biofuel production. Positions are based in Champaign, Illinois.
Duties will include conducting sample preparation, benchtop experiment design and operation, instrumental analysis, glassware cleaning, laboratory housekeeping, data evaluation, and production of technical reports.
Qualifications: Undergraduate student, graduate student, or graduate in natural resources environmental science, environmental or civil engineering, chemistry, geology, or related discipline. Good laboratory skills and with a strong sense of safety awareness when working in the laboratory. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize, accomplish tasks, and meet deadlines. Good communication skills with others. The work may involve lifting and manipulating equipment and other items weighing up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain. The work may also involve working in a greenhouse pilot lab setting (warm and humid) requiring moderate physical exertion. A good understanding of wastewater treatment, algal biofuel production, and experiences of using Origin is preferred but not required.
Work 20 to 40 hours per week. Depending on qualifications, the hourly pay rate will be at least $14 for student hourlies and at least $18 for academic hourlies.
