Major Duties:
Implement the Complementary Work Force (CWF) and Boating Safety Education Program at the region level through the recruitment, screening, training, and monitoring work and training hours of volunteers. Provide guidance on policies and procedures to volunteers and region staff. Work with region staff to prioritize the use of volunteer time to best meet the needs of the agency. Assist in delivering safety messages regarding boating activities to help reduce recreational incidents, injuries, and fatalities. Support the agency’s mission and the boating safety education compliance law in Virginia and the requirements set forth in the US Coast Guard grant and memorandum of agreement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with train the trainer programs
- Understanding of the principles and practices of boating and recreational safety
- Experience in outreach program planning and delivery
- Experience in working with volunteers, managing staff, or managing outreach programs
- Extensive knowledge regarding wildlife impacts on agriculture, commercial and non-commercial farming and landscaping.
- Graduation from a college or university with major studies in education, human resources, outdoor recreation, natural resources, or related field.
- Additional related education may substitute for some of the required experience.
