The Northern Region, Kootenai National Forest, Cabinet Ranger District is soliciting interest for an exciting, challenging opportunity in beautiful northwest Montana. We will be filling a permanent seasonal hydrologic technician position with a duty station in Trout Creek, MT.
Duties
This position serves as a technical leader of a hydrologic field survey crew and is responsible for the collection and monitoring of water resource data. Technical work in the field involves including gathering hydrologic and sediment data. This member of the watershed crew must possess knowledge of hydrologic theories and principles as well as basic concepts in fluvial geomorphology. Experience in basic survey skills, stream surveying, and sediment monitoring is required. One expectation of this position is to provide leadership of a small watershed crew. Position entails the field analysis of current stream channel morphology, river stability and the gathering of data for application towards watershed restoration planning and design.
This position along with the watershed crew and district Hydrologist help to implement and monitor stream restoration projects in the Lower Clark Fork watershed. Most projects are directly related to native salmonid restoration in tributaries to the Lower Clark Fork River. This growing program is partially supported by a collaborative group including Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Avista Corp., US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife service, USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Service, Green Mountain Conservation District and the Lower Clark Fork Watershed Group.
