The Mosaics in Science (MIS) Diversity Internship Program provides college students and recent graduates 18-35 years old that are under-represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) career fields with on-the-ground, natural resource science-based, work experience in the National Park System. Each internship is comprised of working twelve or twenty weeks in a park followed by a four day career workshop held in Washington, D.C. This program is run in partnership with Environment for the Americas.
Program objectives
- Provide meaningful and relevant science-based internships for racially and ethnically diverse undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates;
- Support high priority natural resource management and visitor education and interpretation projects in national parks;
- Increase relevancy, diversity, and inclusion in the NPS workplace; and
- Promote the National Park Service mission.
