Position Title: Program Manager, Forest Management Division
Location: State Office – Fort Collins, Colorado or Broomfield, Colorado, commensurate with experience level of selected applicant.
Salary: $50,000 – 55,000, commensurate with experience
Employment Status: This full-time, regular appointment will be a Colorado State University Administrative Professional employee.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Forest Management Division Supervisor, the Program Manager is responsible for the oversight and program administration of work programs that support forest management primarily on state trust lands, forest management activities on lands administered by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and vegetation management activities on road right-of-ways administered by Colorado Department of Transportation.
This position requires proficiency in general program management skills including but not limited to: recording accomplishments, meeting deadlines, handling budgets, and supporting, communicating and interacting with field operations. The Program Manager needs to be proactive in his/her professional development, assist other Program Managers in program accomplishment, forecast program needs, be aware of significant changes, practices, science, etc. in related areas, and effectively share new knowledge and information with internal staff and external partners and cooperators by serving as the liaison between the two. The Program Manager will serve as a CSFS representative and advocate for forest management and change consistent with our mission and strategic priorities.
Daily activities include: grant and contract writing and administration, budget administration, assisting districts with program implementation and coordination, conducting training workshops, administering landowner assistance programs, and assisting the Forest Management Division Supervisor with other special projects as they arise.
Purpose of the Department/Work Unit. The Forest Management Division of the Colorado State Forest Service provides administration and oversight of forest management programs
that directly contribute to the agency’s mission of “the stewardship of Colorado’s diverse forest environments for the benefit of present and future generations”.
Description of the Department / Work Unit. The State Lands Program Manager is a sub- staff of the Forest Management Division of the Colorado State Forest Service. The administration of State Lands Programs is carried out under the supervision of the Forest Management Division Supervisor.
Decision Making: The Program Manager is responsible for all day-to-day decisions regarding the programmatic oversight of the planning and execution of management activities on state lands. Higher level policy decisions may need to be elevated to the Assistant Division Supervisor, Division Supervisor and State Forester for resolution.
Position Supervises: There are no permanent employees assigned to this position. This position may supervise hourly employees on an as-needed basis.

Required Job Qualifications:
- A degree in forestry, another natural resources program, or a related degree will be

General Information about the Colorado State Forest Service: The Colorado State Forest Service is an agency of Colorado State University, Colorado's land grant institution of higher education, and is housed, organizationally, in the Warner College of Natural Resources. The CSFS has 18 field offices throughout the state, with a State Office located in Fort Collins on one of the foothills campuses of CSU.
Colorado's elevations range from 3,500 feet to over 14,000 feet. Colorado’s ecosystems vary from short-grass prairie to alpine tundra, with many forest ecosystems between these treeless extremes.
