Qual: Skelly and Loy is seeking a full-time junior water resources engineer to join our Hunt Valley, Maryland team. The ideal candidate is experienced and knowledgeable in is ecosystem restoration, low impact development (LID), environmental site design (ESD), storm water management, erosion and sediment control, permitting and plan review, and construction oversight and inspection for both public and private clients within the Mid-Atlantic region. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in civil/water resources/environmental engineering or biological systems engineering or a closely related field with a minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in a water resources or environmental engineering practice area REQUIRED SKILLS: • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland or Pennsylvania or Engineer In Training (E.I.T) with the ability to obtain PE within the next 12 months • Broad experience and knowledge in watershed, ecological restoration, geomorphology, stream assessment and restoration design, stream engineering and modeling • Technical experience and working knowledge should include: H&H modeling and analysis using a variety of models including TR-55, TR-20, GISHydro, HEC-RAS, Hydraflow Hydrographs, Flowmaster, CulvertMaster, and RiverMorph; and experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation V8i • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills • Ability to participate in overnight and/or extended out-of-town project assignments within the region DESIRED SKILLS: • Permitting experience in the Mid-Atlantic region • Stream restoration/fluvial geomorphology (Rosgen stream training or similar, sediment transport)
Duties: Participate technically on water resources projects including site assessments and documentation, conceptual designs, construction documents, specifications/cost estimates, construction bid support and construction inspection using sound ecological principles • Assist senior management with client and project management including deliverables, schedules and financial performance • Assist senior management with business development, technical proposals and presentations and the development of scopes and price proposals • Service/participation on technical committees, organizations and/or academic institutions.
