Qual: Skelly and Loy is seeking a full-time environmental scientist to join our Hunt Valley, Maryland team. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with technical experience in natural resources in the Mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia). The selected candidate will provide technical support for a diversity of professional services including, but not limited to, wetland and forest stand delineations, tree preservation planning, fluvial geomorphic analysis, T&Es, water quality monitoring, natural resources studies, permitting and agency coordination, ecosystem restoration, GIS/GPS/CADD support and support efforts associated with NEPA/MEPA planning and the TMDL/NPDES program. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science degree in biology, natural resources, environmental or planning discipline or a Bachelor of Art degree with demonstrated technical experience and a minimum of five (5) years of professional technical experience. REQUIRED SKILLS: • Experience in wetland and forest stand delineations, fluvial geomorphic analysis, T&Es, and water quality monitoring • Experience in the use of GIS/GPS/CADDtechnologies as related to environmental products and services • Knowledge of local, state and federal permitting regulations and NEPA/MEPA procedures • Ability to participate in overnight and/or extended out-of-town project assignments within the region • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. DESIRED SKILLS: • Broad experience and knowledge in the EPA Chesapeake Bay TMDL/NPDES requirements, low impact development (LID), environmental site design (ESD) and storm water management • Experience providing environmental compliance monitoring/inspection services for major design/build projects and as owner representation
Duties: Serve as team leader on several environmental/engineering projects • Lead and/or assist in field activities, data collection, management, presentation and review of environmental projects • Provide technical direction and oversight to junior scientists for technical activities • Lead, organize and participate in client and agency meetings, public meetings, field work, and site visits • Service/participation on technical committees, organizations and/or academic institutions.
