Position Announcement
Date: December 15, 2015
Title: District Administrator (20 hours per week, possibility of increase dependent upon performance)
Location: Allegan Conservation District, Allegan, Michigan
Primary Duties
1. Responsibilities to the Board
a. Organize monthly Board meetings. Record and prepare board meeting minutes.
b. Coordinate arrangements for the Annual Meeting and Election.
c. Organize and conduct annual fund raising campaign through Tree Seedling Sale.
d. Prepare and submit required reports.
e. Identify and secure short and long-term funding for District programs.
f. Implement Board directed policies.
2. Human Resources
a. Supervise and assist staff in the performance of their duties.
b. Review and coordinate employee payroll and benefits.
c. The Board evaluates the performance of staff members with input of the administrator.
d. The Board hires staff with input of the administrator.
3. Financial Responsibilities
a. Prepare an annual operating budget for the Board and provide periodic updates in accordance to Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development standards.
b. Prepare monthly financial reports for submittal to the Board.
c. Provide for control of financial resources once the Board approves allocation of these resources.
d. Prepare and submit appropriate tax forms and payments.
e. Coordinate financial requirements for various grant programs, including reporting and budgeting.
f. Prepare and coordinate financial review/audit as required by law and/or contractual agreements. Identify, evaluate and pursue relevant sources of funding for District programs through grants and private/public funding sources.
4. Grant Administration
a. Direct the application for, preparation and administration of any grant programs which may be available to the District.
b. Recommend appropriate grant programs to the Board and develop grant proposals.
c. Meet with relevant individuals to coordinate and secure grant funds.
5. General/Partnership Responsibilities
a. Answer phone, take messages and assist customers.
b. Assist NRCS with general office support as part of our Cooperating Working Agreement.
c. Assist NRCS with Contribution Agreement Tasks.
d. Serve as the District contact and attend relevant meetings.
e. Represent the District in public appearances to inform the public, conservation partners, and local units of government of District programs, services and their role in the community.
f. Assist in planning District workshops, tours, contests, and fund raisers.

Qualifications
Experience writing successful grant proposals and administrating grants. Experience working cooperatively with public and non-profit partners. Experience with accounting, managing project budgets, financial reporting, customer service, and supervising staff. Knowledge of natural resource management and/or agricultural management. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals, groups and organizations. Self-motivated and self-directed. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel. Valid MI driver’s license. Must be able to pass a federal background check.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
Experience with QuickBooks. Experience in business management and marketing.
Working Conditions
This job consists of primarily office work with some out-of-office travel for meetings and networking. Duties will require working at a computer terminal for a significant portion of time. Some nights and weekends will be required.
The position is 20 hours per week, days and times are flexible within the regular work week. Salary range is $14-$16/hour. Benefits include pro-rated holiday pay, paid time off, and paid sick leave.
