Position Opening: IPM and Environmental Monitoring Assistant
The Collections Management Section at the Spurlock Museum is accepting applications for a part-time undergraduate student to assist with the environmental monitoring program, primarily the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. The IPM system includes tracking, identifying, and documenting invertebrate pests caught in the building and inspecting artifacts for damage indicating active or past infestations. Additional tasks include analysis of data generated by thermometer/hygrometer dataloggers, research regarding environmental monitoring, interpreting data and writing reports. Applicants must have good visual acuity, be organized, and attentive to detail with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A person with a strong interest in entomology is preferred; prior experience in entomology is a plus. This position requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, lift up to twenty pounds, and stand for the duration of your shift. Freshman or sophomore standing and summer availability are preferred. A minimum of 8 hours a week is required. Federal Work Study is preferred. Position opens Fall 2016.
