Position Summary: 1-2 positions will be available located out of the Emporia Research and Survey Office under direct supervision of Ernesto Flores. Incumbent will travel statewide to complete activities in support of the Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) program and fisheries research. ANS job duties include: conduct zebra mussel sampling (i.e., plankton net), operating boats, visiting bait shops to assess compliance, aquatic vegetation monitoring, identifying baitfish and crayfish, collecting fish tissues for disease monitoring, speaking with boaters about ANS impacts and prevention, boat and equipment decontamination procedures, and other duties as assigned. Fisheries research duties include: fish and habitat sampling (i.e., electrofishing, fyke nets, gill nets), age and growth investigations, human dimensions, data entry, and other duties as assigned. Training will be provided for boat operation, baitfish and crayfish identification, equipment decontamination procedures, and other duties. Independent research projects are encouraged
