Position: Natural Resource Technician 2 – Fisheries Bureau
The Department of Natural Resources has an opening for a Natural Resource Technician 2 position within the Fisheries Bureau, located at Bellevue, IA. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the collection of vegetation data in accordance with the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program and to assist the biologist to carry out the mission to help protect, restore and enhance the fisheries and other aquatic resources of the Mississippi River through data collection and analysis. Duties also include: collection of vegetation component data on the Upper Mississippi River, recording the occurrence of aquatic vegetation in Mississippi River, maintaining a herbarium collection of preserved plant specimens, and using the meristic and morphometric characteristics of plants to identify species encountered while sampling and using taxonomic keys to identify the species of newly encountered plants.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F, occasional overnight travel, extended hrs.
