IDNR and INPC are announcing their intent to open eight Graduate Student Intern positions with an expected start date of January 3, 2017. Those selected for these internships will be funded employees of the IDNR for 12 consecutive months. They will receive a monthly salary of $1,600 plus health, vacation, sick, and personal leave benefits. More information can also be found on our website. These field-based residencies provide graduate students with practical hands-on experience. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program related to Plant or Animal Ecology, Botany, Plant and Soil Sciences, Forestry, Zoology, or Environmental Studies. Students need to be favorably recommended by the Graduate School and they must have a written letter of approval from their major advisor recommending the student to be considered for this program. During the period of the residency, students must reside within a 30-mile radius of the headquarters where the position is located. Eight positions are expected to be located as follows:
1) 4 positions at Dixon Springs, Golconda, Pope County (Natural Heritage)
2) 1 position at Lost Mound Unit, Savanna, Carroll County (Natural Heritage)
3) 1 position in INPC Area 5, Havana, Mason County (Nature Preserves Commission)
4) 1 position in INPC Area 8, Newton, Jasper County (Nature Preserves Commission)
5) 1 position at Prairie Ridge, Newton, Jasper County (Natural Heritage)
