Position Announcement: Education and Outreach Coordinator
Position Overview
The Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of outreach, education, and volunteer programs and activities designed to raise community awareness of COL’s mission. The position reports to the Executive Director and assists the Development and Marketing Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Education and Outreach: Develop, plan, and implement land conservation and stewardship educational programs and activities for youth and adults. Develop, plan, and implement community and member engagement activities. Promote activities within the community to increase awareness of and support for COL.
- Development and Marketing: Assist with management of COL’s website and social media platforms and content. Assist with fundraising and marketing activities, as required.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit and organize volunteers to assist with COL activities, including outreach, membership, and stewardship events, and direct mail projects.
- General Administration: Provide general clerical and administrative support, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, natural resources conservation, or related field is required. Previous experience in land conservation or environmental education is preferred. Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal/communication skills are required. Incumbent should be a self-starter with the ability to collaborate with a team and interact with a wide variety of audiences, particularly elementary school children. Requires proficient computer skills, with prior web/social media content management desirable. Passion for land conservation is required. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends required. Ability to work in an office environment and in an outdoor field environment.
Employment Terms
The position is full-time with an expected starting salary of $35,000 – 40,000, depending on qualifications. Normal working hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. Benefits include paid time off and a matching retirement plan.
