Illinois Enactus is looking for a motivated student who would be willing to help us out in keeping our aquaponics system running over the summer. The members of this project team have basically designed and built a closed-loop aquaponics system that has tilapia as the aquaculture input and various leafy greens as the hydroponics input. The goal of the project is to conduct research through this system that eventually allows us to build a cheaper prototype that can then be distributed through the community in an effort to combat local food insecurity. I thought that this might be right up the alley of some NRES students and we'd be excited to extend the opportunity to anyone in the major already planning on staying here over the summer.
