Duties: The technician will assist a graduate student with Master’s thesis data collection and processing. Duties will include hiking off trail in forested areas, collecting spatial and vegetation data, and entering and processing data.
Required Qualifications:
-Undergraduate in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
-Ability to hike long distances on uneven terrain
-Willingness to work 10 hour days in inclement weather
-Valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications:
-Experience GPS mapping with Trimble units or ArcCollector
-ArcGIS experience
-Illinois plant ID skills
-CPR / first aid certification
Work Schedule: May 28 – Aug 2, 2018. Work will be done on a 5-days-on/4-days-off schedule or a similar extended on/off schedule.
Compensation: $10/hr
Work Location: Shawnee National Forest and surrounding areas. Housing will be provided in southern Illinois.
