Job Description: The university of Illinois Arboretum is sponsoring interns during the summer of 2018 beginning at the end of the spring semester. This is a 12-15 week paid internship with opportunities to interact with faculty members and students from various departments. Interns will gain experience integral to public garden maintenance and may participate in special projects relevant to plant propogation, ecological restoration, urban ecology, landscape design, and other topics critical to the development of the Arboretum.
Job Responsibilities: Tasks include care of Arboretum gardens and woodlands, including planting, weeding, watering, mowing, and pruning. The intern can request to be assigned a special project under the direction of a university faculty member.
Job Qualifications: The candidate must be a University of Illinois student available to work most of the summer beginning just after spring semester ends. Preference will be given to students with a strong work ethic and an interest and background in plants, soil, and landscape management.
