Summary:
Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific research agency and one of the worlds premiere scientific organizations. ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientists research on agricultural problems of high national priority affecting American agriculture.

Responsibilities:
This positon is assigned to the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, Renewable Product Technology Research Unit in Peoria, Illinois. The incumbent will conduct research to isolate and characterize bacteriophage as a genetic source of antimicrobial enzymes; clone, express, isolate, and characterize the antimicrobial activity of the enzymes; and evaluate potential of the enzymes for resolving problematic infections that impact agriculture and industrial processing.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. is required that was obtained within the last 4 years in molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position *experience with isolation and identification of bacteriophage is desired*
- Appropriations Law and Immigration Law requirements must be met
