Description:
The Office of Applied Science within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Waterfowl Assistant Data Research Scientist to begin work on April 1, 2019. This a dual appointment Limited Term Employee position and funding is available for at least two years. The Waterfowl Assistant Data Research Scientist will work directly with the Waterfowl and Migratory Game Bird Research Scientist to organize field collected data from multiple projects and prepare for statistical analysis. Additional duties will include working with remotely collected data, such as landscape spatial features, and assisting with manuscript preparations. The position will be based out of Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
Qualifications:
Required
Selected applicants must have a knowledge of waterfowl ecology and strong data management skills. A familiarity with quantitative statistical approaches used to analyze nest and brood survival is required. Eligible applicants must be competent in programs such as R and ArcGIS to manage large numeric and spatial data sets. Additionally, applicants must maintain a persistent working attitude, and work well both independently as well as with others.
Preferred
Applicants with previous project management, as well as peer-reviewed manuscript preparation, are preferred. Experience with occupancy modeling and population modeling are preferred, but not required.
