Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Forestry and two (2) years of professional experience in forestry; or
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Forestry and one (1) year of professional experience in forestry; or
An associate’s degree in Forestry and four (4) years of professional experience in forestry.
Professional experience in forestry can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education for a total of seven (7) years of professional experience.

Additional Requirements:
Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.
Moderate to frequent travel required. Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.

The anticipated minimum hiring salary for this position is $40,948.18 annually.
Job Duties:
This is an advanced professional position that is responsible for the coordination and implementation of Florida's Forest Water Resources Program including managing all aspects of the Florida Forest Service's (FFS) Best Management Practices (BMP) program.
Coordinates and conducts the FFS’s BMP Compliance Survey, including training for the Environmental Specialists (BMP Foresters) and/or County Foresters, field data collection, analysis of data, preparation of reports, and presentation and publication of results.
Supervises assigned staff and administers the BMP program.
Assists public and private forest managers and landowners in applying BMPs to silviculture and activities such as harvesting, road construction, and maintenance or site preparation. Stays abreast of current information on BMPs and associated regulations.
Assists with the development and use of education and training materials on BMPs and related regulations for loggers, landowners and land managers, including public lands.
Assists with the design, initiation, and coordination of studies to determine compliance with and effectiveness of the silviculture BMP program.
Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner. Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with FFS and department policies and procedures.
Works with water management districts, and other state, local and federal agencies on complaint/incident resolution regarding BMP non-compliance issues, water quality issues and similar water resource related problems.
