Description:
Forester will serve as forest survey crew leading and be responsible for the survey program in the assigned region. The forester will investigate land ownership in the tax office, contact landowners, locate field plots, collect and transmit forest survey data and meet production goals.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain QA average <95%; Meet monthly production goals; Effectively supervise technical field staff; Effectively acquire access to plot locations; Assist with hiring of technical field staff; Assist with training of new FIA employees; Assist with regional special studies
- Acquire USFS FIA 'Certified Cruiser' certification within six months of employment
- Involvement in local natural resource organization (SAF, TFA, FLA.) Forester will assist with delivery of other local agency programs as available (Management plans, Con. Ed programs, fire prevention/suppression, WUI.)
Education and Experience:
- Required Education: Bachelors degree or higher in Forestry, Forestry Management or closely related course of study from and SAF Accredited Forestry Degree Program.
- Preferred Education: Two or more higher education degrees in Forestry OR one higher education degree in Forestry and a second higher education degree in a program-applicable field
- Required Experience: None
- Preferred Experience: GPS training. Dendrology expertise.
