Position Description
The City of Naperville seeks a Summer Intern for the Water & Wastewater Utility in the Collection & Pumping Division for full-time summer employment in the 2020 season. Work hours are from Monday-Friday (Approx. 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m). Term of employment is mid-May through mid-August for approximately 13-14 weeks.
Job Duties
The GIS Intern will report to the Collections & Pumping Supervisor. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork (in all weather conditions) to collect GPS data of sanitary and water assets including manholes, cleanouts, etc. The GIS Summer intern will also perform GIS editing tasks, including updating asset attribute information and inputting new or updated feature classes.
Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must be currently enrolled in a related degree program. Applicants currently working towards an undergraduate major in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, or Information Systems are preferred. Candidates must be highly motivated and possess a strong desire to learn. Previous experience/familiarity using ArcMap 10.3 (or newer); and experience with ArcPro preferred. Experience using a GPS unit ideal. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and work for a very progressive organization.

A valid State of Illinois Class D Driver's License is required. Applicants should possess a driving history with no moving violations for at least the last twelve (12) months.
