Position Summary:
The incumbent serves as a principal assistant on a Ranger District performing work in support of the unit’s recreation program. Responsible for implementing both annual and long-term work plans for developed recreation sites (campgrounds, day use sites, recreation residences, etc.) both developed and dispersed.
Major Duties:
- Develop long-range plans for managing recreation resources
- Identifies potential problems and recommends strategies to deal with them
- Participates in the development of plans in accordance with program management objectives and policies
- Develops annual work plans for management unit
- Prepares detailed project work plans and schedules, including required personnel, equipment, and supplies
- Recommends settings for proposed recreation facilities and provides information about the characteristics of each area
- Assist in the implementation of recreation operation and maintenance plans for recreation sites
- Monitors the scope of approved operating plans
- Gathers, complies, and recommends improvements for developed and dispersed recreation sites on the unit
- Performs supervisory duties 20% or less of the time
