Teaching, Research, and Service Expectations:
- Teaching load of 9-12 contact hours per semester (3-4 lectures or labs per semester) for a total of 21 contact hours per academic year. Teaching load will include the following courses: a lab-based Ecology course for majors, an introductory Environmental Science course for majors and non-majors
- An active research program with a desire to mentor undergraduate researchers in Biology and/or Environmental Studies
- Service to the Biology Department that includes attendance at meetings and faculty events, and participation in Departmental committees according to the candidate’s interests. Service opportunities may also exist in the Environmental Studies Program if this aligns with the candidate's interests.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Biology or Environmental Science
- A strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy and to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts context
- Research expertise in Ecology, Evolution, Conservation Biology, or Environmental Science
- Research expertise in Plant Ecology or Conservation, and an ability to teach a majors’ Evolution course will each be considered assets, but are not required.

- Statement of teaching philosophy that addresses your commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment, considering students from a broad variety of backgrounds and learning styles
- A research statement that describes your work and includes your plans to incorporate undergraduate researchers
All materials should be submitted by March 1st, 2026.
After reviewing these materials, the search committee will invite a short list of candidates to participate in Zoom and on-campus interviews to take place in Spring 2026.
If invited to progress to the next round of consideration, you will be asked to provide three letters of recommendation, and undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
