  • Environmental Law Institute Complimentary Summer School Series June 1 - July 27

    Each summer, ELI convenes a complimentary seminar series that offers an introduction to the legal and policy foundations of environmental protection in the United States.

    ELI's Summer School is a series of seminars taught by experts in their fields, introducing the audience to important areas of environmental law, including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), climate change law, energy law, land use law, and environmental justice. Faculty will also incorporate major regulatory and judicial updates to the laws.

  • Argonne Open House - May 20, 2023

    Experience a full day of activities celebrating four major areas in which Argonne has an impact: saving our planet, improving public and personal health, understanding our universe, and creating new tools of science.

  • Openlands Arborist Registered Apprenticeship

    The Openlands Arborist Registered Apprenticeship 2024 cohort application will be available on Monday, January 8. They will be hosting a virtual, informational session on Monday December 18 at 6pm to provide interested applicants more information about the program, discuss the hiring timeline, and answer questions.

  • New Horizons in Conservation Conference (virtual) March 29-31, 2022

    The conference focuses on students, faculty, and professionals in the conservation field who have been historically underrepresented in the environmental workforce.  The conference brings together people of color and white allies who are interested in enhancing diversity in environmental organizations, academic environmental programs, and the broader environmental movement.

  • First Look@Argonne Conference on October 29

    This year's conference will be held virtually and will allow students to:

    1. Learn about the Department of Energy (DOE) complex and Argonne’s mission science research. 

    2. Explore Argonne’s campus and research facilities virtually.

    3. Network with Argonne researchers and engineers across the many different STEM disciplines.

    4. Learn about summer and year-round research opportunities for undergraduate students.

    5. Connect with current and past interns.

    6. Consider participation in a tandem event, Mini-Semester, to further prepare you for an internship at a national laboratory.

  • Careers and Opportunities With NOAA - online webinar June 28

    Are you interested in becoming an environmental lawyer for the American public? The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a mission to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans and coasts, to share that knowledge with others, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. This event is free and open to the public but you must register by June 24th.

We would like to invite your students to the laboratory's third annual Computing Across the Sciences - Mini-Semester for underrepresented Groups in STEM on Tuesday, December 13, 2023 through Friday, December 16, 2022. This year’sMini-Semester will be conducted virtually zoom.

  • U.S. Forest Service Student & Recent Graduate Hiring Event in Madison, WI

    The U.S. Forest Service will conduct a Student and Recent Graduate Hiring Event at the 2016 Society of American Foresters Convention, held November 2-6 in Madison, Wisconsin.  Over 140 Pathways Student Intern and Recent Graduate positions will be available at the event. Many of these positions are for foresters, forestry technicians, natural resource managers, or biological technicians. In addition, a few of the positions will be for fisheries and wildlife biologists, and GIS technicians.  On-site applications will be accepted at the Society of American Foresters (SAF) Convention in Madison, Wisconsin, from 2 p.m. to 7p.m. on November 2nd, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 3rd.

  • BRING MATH Conference for undergraduates Oct. 5-6, 2023, Argonne National Laboratory (Lemont, IL; apply by June 19)

    BRING MATH (BRIdges for the Next Generation: MATHematical Science Research and Our Future) is a two-day conference for undergraduates interested in the mathematical sciences. It is a collaboration between IMSI and the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, and will be hosted at Argonne, which is located in Lemont, Illinois.  The purpose of the conference includes exposing students and faculty to research in the mathematical sciences at Argonne, and helping them understand its real world applications; it is intended to increase students’ interest in the mathematical sciences and broaden their access to opportunities to pursue that interest, to help diversify the mathematical science community; it will educate students about summer opportunities available to them, and it will help students learn about career opportunities in the mathematical sciences and how to pursue them.
