10.What are your job responsibilities/duties?
I am primarily responsible for working with Investors and Landlords on the disposition and acquisition of commercial real estate assets. I also assist with the development and implementation of new marketing strategies, property management and development.
11.What does a typical day look like?
8 AM: Arrive at the Office
8:15: - 9 AM: Check Emails
9-11:15 AM: Cold Calls and Follow up Calls
11:15 AM -12:30 PM: Coffee with Potential Client
12:30PM -1:30 PM: Lunch
1:30-3:30 PM: Edit and create marketing/pitch materials
3:30-5:00 PM: Make Follow up calls and set meetings
5:00 - 6:00 PM: Check Emails
12.What do you most enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the freedom to work from home and the flexibility of my schedule.
13.What is the most difficult aspect of the job?
Constantly being on the hunt for new business and cold calling.
14.What on-campus activities were you involved with? Where did you gain relevant experience?
I was involved with Rho Epsilon, Alpha Epsilon Pi, and Green Street Records. I gained valuable experience from all of them in different ways. Rho Epsilon gave me some insight into the process of a Real Estate Deal, while AEPi gave me the opportunity to gain leadership experience. Green Street Records gave me a unique business experience with a focus on creating a new compilation CD annually.
15.How did your experience at ILLINOIS and in the College of Media prepare you for your professional life? For this specific position?
It gave me some very valuable insight in how to advertise to my target market. I took a course that was focused on social media with Eric Hansen. Learning about how to interpret metrics has been extremely helpful in my professional life.
16.What advice do you have for students interested in this field?
ASK QUESTIONS and NETWORK! You never know whom you are going to meet and have the opportunity to speak with.
17.What is one thing that you know now that you wish you had known when you started in the field? When you graduated from the College?
I wish that I had more experience using programs such as Constant Contact and Campaigner.
