    The past year has been another remarkable period of achievement for our College. As we near the midpoint of what hopefully is a restorative summer for you spent with family and friends, I wanted to share and reflect on some recent accomplishments of our scholars.

    Wherever we look, we see challenges in areas of critical concern for our future. Systemic problems like poverty and inequality continue to challenge our progress in leveling the playing field for all learners. But with focus and determination we are gaining ground—as this issue of Alumni Update demonstrates—by offering rigorous education programs; by preparing educators to succeed in meeting the needs of diverse learners, by investing in new facilities and tools that invigorate our research; and by providing support for talented scholars, who, like you, will carry our legacy of excellence into the future.
