Higher Education Leadership in a Complex Global 21st Century
Chancellor Jones along with Vice-Chancellors Kupe and Marwala will discuss the changing landscape for higher education as it is impacted by major global trends including demographic changes, aging populations, political shifts, and national education policies. These global trends coupled with national concerns regarding education access, affordability, changing student and faculty profiles, and declining financial support for institutions of higher education, challenge university leaders to collaborate and explore innovative solutions that transcend geo-political boundaries, and which seek to address UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to widening access, reducing inequality, improving gender equality, and pursuing peace and social justice.
