The International Student Outreach Team from the Counseling Center is hosting International Students Unpacking on Wednesday, August 31.
It will be at the Asian American Cultural Center located at 1210 W Nevada St in Urbana.
Things like American greetings, communication styles, norms, attitudes and etiquette can sometimes be challenging for international students who may not be familiar with American Culture.
That’s where this event comes into action.
It is an interactive event where international students can see examples that portray differences in communication styles in the U.S.
Additionally, there will be discussions around strategies to cope with potential stress, and overall the event will show international students what they can expect while in the states.
Food will be provided, and the event is sponsored by the Counseling Center, International Student and Scholar Services, International Education and the Asian American Cultural Center.
