The Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies (OVPIAGS) would like to share an update on the 2019 Illinois International service project.
This year, Illinois International chose the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen Backpack Project (https://dailybreadsoupkitchen.com/2017/01/30/backpack-project/) and set a goal to fill three backpacks. The contributions came in quickly and we reached the goal to three filled backpacks within the first week. The goal was then doubled to fill six backpacks. Ultimately, Illinois International collected enough donations to fill backpacks as holiday gifts for SEVEN guests served by the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
These backpacks were packed with much needed and appreciated cold weather clothing, hand warmers, fleece blankets, toiletries, cough drops, books, and more and delivered to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen on December 4.
