Although aid programs have been put into place to aid citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands still filed for bankruptcy in North Carolina.
“Why are people still filing? People still have debt,” Professor Robert Lawless told the Charlotte Observer.
Many experts say that the issues that drive people to file for bankruptcy in the first place have gotten worse during the pandemic - including job losses and the cost of healthcare.
