Professor Janice Pea recently presented a webinar for the Judicial Staff Education Committee of the Illinois Judicial College. The topic was Introduction to Judicial Opinion Writing, and the attendees included law clerks from the circuit court, appellate court, and Illinois Supreme Court, other judicial branch staff members, and several circuit court judges and appellate court justices.
The Illinois Judicial College is dedicated to advancing four core principles: access to justice, diversity and inclusion, procedural fairness, and mitigation of bias. The discussion focused on how writing reasoned judicial opinions contributes to these goals.
