On May 19, Professor Jacob Sherkow was a panelist at the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor Law School's Conference on Governance of Emerging Technologies and Science. The conference aimed to address the ethical, legal, regulatory and policy issues that surround the emergence of new technologies and scientific advances. the conference brings together scientists, lawyers, regulators, and beyond because governing decisions and lessons from one field can often be applied to others to find creative solutions to new problems and questions.
Sherkow was invited to be a part of the first session of the conference, Intellectual Property Protection of Emerging Technologies: The New Frontier. He was joined by legal professors and industry counsel for an interdisciplinary discussion of advances in biotechnology and the legal issues that may arise from those breakthroughs.
