On October 18, 2016 the College’s Family Law & Policy Program and Family Law Society presented Judge Arnold Blockman with the inaugural Better Angels Award for his steadfast compassion for the family. The College hosted a reception which was attended by Judge Blockman’s family, friends, former classmates, colleagues, fellow faculty members, and former and current students.
Judge Blockman serves as an adjunct professor at the College of Law, teaching family law practice. He presided over the family law division in Champaign County from 2000 until his retirement in 2016. He received his bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of Memphis in 1968 and his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1973.
