On June 23, 2022, Professor Richard Ross delivered the Max-Planck Lecture in Legal History and Legal Theory at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory, Frankfurt, Germany. The title of the talk was “The Rule of Law in British America: Thinking with Indians While Comparing to Spaniards.”
Ross also delivered the keynote address at the Legal Histories of Empire Conference on June 29 at Maynooth University, Ireland. The title of the lecture was “Anglicization of and through Law: British North America, Ireland, and India Compared, 1540-1800.” Ross delivered the talk along with his co-authors Jane Ohlmeyer and Philip Stern.
