Duo Security, the leading cloud-based Trusted Access provider and one of the fastest growing information security companies in the world, has announced Federal Trade Commission attorney, Whitney Merrill '14 as a recipient of its 2017 Women in Security Awards. The awards recognize the contributions women make to transform the information security industry.
Merrill is currently an attorney at the Federal Trade Commission. In addition to her J.D., she also received her master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she explored issues associated with the intersection of technology, information security, privacy, and the law. During her time at UIUC, she was an Illinois Cyber Security Scholar and member of the Illinois Security Lab. Merrill also runs the Crypto & Privacy Village, which appears at DEF CON & other conferences each year.
