Dean Vikram Amar recently joined "We the People," a podcast hosted by the National Constitution Center, to discuss the Independent State Legislature doctrine. Amar and Evan Bernick (Northern Illinois University College of Law), both constitutional law experts, explained what that theory is and what effect, if implemented, it could have on the power of state courts to review actions by state legislatures in regulating elections. The conversation was moderated by Jeffrey Rosen, president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to educating the public about the U.S. Constitution.
