Claire Chang '17 and Alex Rodriguez '17 were students in the Federal Appellate Defender course during their 3L year. As part of the course, students have the opportunity to brief and present oral argument in a federal criminal appeal in the Seventh Circuit, and they also work on petitions for rehearing, petitions for certiorari, and other appellate work in federal court as it arises. 

On September 18, 2017, Chang and Rodriguez were informed that they had won a resentencing hearing for their client, Andre Patterson, in No. 16-2119 United States of America v. Andre Patterson.
