Professor Andrew Leipold recently provided commentary on SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh for a BBC Radio documentary strand called PROFILE. Each week, the program looks at the life and career of someone making the news.
Leipold spoke about his time working with Kavanaugh on the Starr Report:
"My memory of Brett as working in the office - very professional. There was never any sitting around strategizing about how to make somebody look bad, or some sense that we were carrying a torch for one political party."
He also weighed in on Kavanaugh's views regarding presidential powers and whether or not a sitting president should be subject to investigation.
"Brett will play no favorites. If Brett is confirmed to the Supreme Court, and a question of presidential immunity comes before the Supreme Court, Brett is not going to be influenced by the fact that Donald Trump put him on the Supreme Court. He will call 'em as he sees them, and if the President thinks otherwise, he is mistaken."
